Coping Goals: Predictability and Structure

Predictability and structure are important to consider during an extended period of time at home. A predictable routine will have positive impact on mood, motivation, and stress. Consider creating a daily schedule and involve your children when appropriate. Include a mix of school/work and play and don’t be too hard on yourself when you don’t follow it perfectly. The best type of schedule for a situation like this is one that uses visual aids that can be easily moved. For example, online calendars like Google’s calendar feature is easy to set up, send, and make colorful. A low-tech version requires only a few sticky-notes. See below for examples:
