Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Fischer has worked extensively with children and their families throughout his training and professional experience and is delighted to join the team at Dragonfly Psychological Associates. CJ has provided psychotherapy to children and teens ages 4-17. He has collaborated with and provided consultations to parents, teachers, guidance counselors, therapeutic mentors, primary care providers and psychiatrists. CJ believes that continuous collaboration with multiple stakeholders is crucial to providing the best care possible.

CJ completed his APA approved pre-doctoral internship at the Freedman Center where he provided psychotherapy directly in the school with children ranging from pre-school to middle-school ages. CJ also implemented programing for a new dads group which encouraged discussion, collaboration and education to new fathers about how to improve attachment and interpersonal relations with their new babies as well as their partners. CJ has worked with multi-cultural populations and is an ally to the LGBTQ community. He has expertise in treating children and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, panic disorder, school phobia, ADHD and extensive work with complex trauma. In addition, CJ has extensive experience with populations on the autism spectrum.

In therapy, CJ utilizes a holistic, eclectic approach in treating both children and adults. CJ believes that there is no single best approach and that goals for therapy are a continuously evolving, collaborative process. In addition, CJ comes from an artistic background and when possible incorporates role play as well as other means of artistic expression as both coping strategies as well as ways of illuminating strengths and identifying challenges. CJ utilizes cognitive-behavioral as well as humanistic (person-centered) techniques and provides play therapy for younger children.
