ConsultationDr. Marissa Florio received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Widener University at the Institute of Graduate Clinical Psychology where she focused her clinical training in child, adolescent, and family therapy, school psychology, and multi-cultural and diversity considerations. Marissa is equally trained in psychoeducational assessment as well. She has experience treating individuals with presenting concerns that include anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning challenges, and behavioral problems. Marissa’s experiences also include working with adolescents and young adults with concerns related to interpersonal problems, difficult transitions, grief and loss, and traumatic experiences. Marissa uses an integrative approach in therapy, drawing primarily from cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), family systems theory, and trauma-informed care (TIC). At the heart of her work, Marissa believes in creating a therapeutic environment that is warm, supportive, and validating of her client’s experiences.
