We offer regular “coaching” for children and adolescents who struggle with executive functions (the set of mental processes that support regulating and organizing how someone responds to the demands of the world). Adolescents with executive function challenges often have these issues as a result of ADHD and/or a learning disability, and struggle to initiate and complete tasks, or to organize and plan their work or activities. Children with executive function challenges may also develop anxiety or work avoidance, or may begin feeling sad and hopeless about their difficulty in meeting age-appropriate expectations.
Our EF team will do a careful intake assessment to understand the specific EF challenges that your child is facing, and will recommend an EF coaching plan, which can include therapeutic support to manage anxiety, work avoidance, or other emotional reactions. EF coaching usually takes place in weekly hour-long appointments in our offices.
